Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze: The expanded assembly is attended by the Holy Synod in full composition - Patriarchal candidates have already presented their vision, now delegates will speak, after which voting will begin

According to Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze, head of the Patriarchate’s Public Relations Service, during the ongoing expanded ecclesiastical assembly at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Patriarchal candidates have already delivered their speeches and presented their vision to those gathered.

He stated that the next stage will include speeches by three delegates, after which the voting process will begin. The vote will be public and broadcast live.

“The assembly is proceeding according to the regulations that were previously defined and agreed upon. At this stage, the candidate bishops have already spoken and presented their vision and program. The next stage will begin when delegates deliver speeches, and after that the voting will start. Three delegates will speak. The voting will be broadcast live,” Archpriest Andria Jagmaidze said.

He also noted that the Holy Synod is attending the assembly in full composition.

The expanded assembly of the Georgian Orthodox Church is currently underway at the Holy Trinity Cathedral (Sameba Cathedral), where the 142nd Patriarch of Georgia will be elected today. The session is chaired by Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku.
