“His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Archbishop of Mtskheta-Tbilisi, Metropolitan of Bichvinta and Tskhum-Abkhazia, Great Lord, our Father Shio III - Axios!” declared Metropolitan Anania Japaridze, chair of the vote-counting commission, after announcing the results of the vote.

In accordance with procedure, after the announcement of the results, Metropolitan Anania asked Metropolitan Shio whether he accepted the burden of the Catholicos-Patriarchate, to which he responded affirmatively.

“I accept my election as Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia with obedience, by the grace of God and with hope,” declared the newly elected Patriarch, Shio III.
