According to Eurostat data, Georgia ranked second in 2025 by the number of people expelled from the European Union and returned to a third country. During the past year, 10,475 people were returned to Georgia from EU member states. Among those returned to third countries, Turkish citizens ranked first with 13,405 people, followed by Syria with 8,370 people and Albania with 8,020 people.

According to Eurostat, Germany expelled the highest number of third-country nationals - 29,295 people. France ranked second with 14,940 expulsions, while Sweden was third, expelling 11,250 people.

During 2025, 132,600 third-country nationals were refused entry into the European Union, which is 7.1% higher than the same figure from the previous year (123,835 people). Of these, a total of 4,785 Georgian citizens were denied entry to the EU.

It is also noteworthy that the number of people staying illegally in EU member states decreased by 21.7%, meaning the number of undocumented migrants dropped from 918,525 to 719,395 people. In 2025, 16,230 Georgian citizens were living illegally in EU member states.

According to Eurostat data, following the issuance of the relevant orders, 135,460 third-country nationals were returned to third countries. This figure is almost 21% higher compared to the same period last year.
