Georgian Dream MP - The country's security may be in question, therefore, where there is a risk, we are careful - the war has not ended and if anyone thinks that this threat does not apply to Georgia, they are very mistaken

The security of our country may be in question, therefore, where there is a risk of this, we are careful. The war between Ukraine and Russia has not ended, and if anyone thinks that this threat does not apply to Georgia, they are very mistaken, - Georgian Dream MP Irakli Cheishvili said about the new expanded partial agreement on the creation of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of aggression against Ukraine, to which 36 countries and the European Union have expressed their intention to join.

According to Cheishvili, Georgia has joined a number of resolutions so far, but "when a resolution poses a threat to the country's sovereignty, the government will always refrain from joining it."

"We have joined a number of resolutions in the UN, the Council of Europe, and other high-level platforms. We act in the interests of the Georgian people and Georgia and we act in this way, where the sovereignty of our country, the Georgian people, and peace may be threatened to some extent. There can be many threats, there is a risk of this, therefore, this decision was made and the resolution was not supported. There are real threats, these threats have existed for years in relation to Georgia. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began, a number of resolutions were adopted, which we supported, we recognize and support the integrity, sovereignty, and Ukrainian people of Ukraine, and in general we have taken a number of effective steps to help them, contrary to what we received, we all know very well. Therefore, the fact that such resolutions and such sanctions may contain a specific threat, that is why we act in this way. We are talking about the security of our country. The security of our country may be at stake. The war between Ukraine and Russia has not ended, and if anyone thinks that this threat does not apply to Georgia, they are very mistaken," Cheishvili said.

For information, the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe was held in Moldova on May 15.
