Irakli Kobakhidze: European bureaucracy has become hostage to its own injustice and that relations between Georgia and the European Union could be easily reset if European officials “overcome their complexes"

According to Kobakhidze, the European bureaucracy wanted to change the government in Georgia and needed to use “injustice” as a tool to implement that decision.

“The main thing in relations is fair principles. If relations are not based on fair principles, they have no future. What created the main problem in relations between Georgia and the European Union was injustice - an unfair attitude toward the Georgian people and the Georgian state. There were double standards and completely unfair assessments.

You know that Georgia is the absolute leader among candidate countries. This applies to democratic processes, economic progress, the effective functioning of institutions, low levels of corruption - by all parameters Georgia is the absolute leader. Despite this, the European bureaucracy decided to try to change the government in Georgia after we became stronger and refused to get involved in the war.

That decision required implementation, and for them injustice became the only instrument for carrying it out. Accordingly, for example, the EU ambassador decided to directly interfere in Georgia’s local democratic elections in 2024, openly calling on Georgian voters to mobilize against the government. Foreign ministers of European countries directly appeared on stage. They became emboldened in their own injustice, and this naturally created problems and caused a rupture in relations, which was entirely logical. Where there is injustice, healthy relations cannot exist.

Now the European bureaucracy is hostage to its own injustice. They cannot break out of this circle because they themselves created it and locked themselves inside it. In reality, they must overcome the complexes they created through their own unfair actions. If the European bureaucracy overcomes these complexes, relations between Georgia and the European Union can be reset very easily. Our hand is extended, and we will wait for them to free themselves from these complexes,” Kobakhidze said.
