Zurab Japaridze: The planned rally and march will take place under any circumstances, the event will be peaceful and the authorities are allegedly trying to prevent it from happening

Japaridze stated that the opposition had also planned additional actions, although their implementation would depend on circumstances.

“The rally and the march will happen in any case. Beyond that, we had some other things planned, and we will see how it goes,” he said.

According to him, the aim of the authorities is to prevent the protest from taking place, while the opposition intends to proceed regardless of restrictions.

“They just want the rally not to happen - that is what this is about. In any case, the gathering will take place, people will assemble, and the march will happen. We will try to use all possible ways to carry out what we had planned,” Japaridze said.

He added that any large public gathering undermines what he described as the government’s narrative about being the majority.

“They are afraid every time large numbers of people appear, because the main lie they spread - that they are the majority and speak on behalf of the Georgian people - collapses when people gather,” he said.

Japaridze also emphasized that the protest will remain peaceful and warned against any provocations.

“This will be a completely peaceful rally, I am certain of that. If there are any provocations, they will be organized by them. There will be no provocation from our side, and no one wants people to end up in prison because of this,” he said.
