If I had been involved in the organizational activities, believe me, I would definitely not have sent an invitation to the German ambassador, - this is how Irakli Kirtskhalia, a member of the parliamentary majority, answered the question if he had information why the ambassadors of Germany and Britain were not attending the event dedicated to Georgia's Independence Day.
According to Kirtskhalia, he does not know whether invitations were sent to the ambassadors of Germany and Britain, although if it were up to him, representatives of those countries "who have gone beyond the Vienna Convention and insulted the country" would not have been invited to the event.
“We remember well the Biden administration and those groups in Congress that became active against our country after 2022 - offensive statements, numerous resolutions that insulted the dignity of our country, sovereignty, and independence. We remember the romanticization of the “Molotov cocktail” shooter, we remember the open involvement of representatives of the diplomatic corps in the pre-election campaign, we remember all those current or former officials, representatives of European countries, involved in anti-government rallies and pre-election processes and on the side of the collective National Movement. After all this, you have a question: why do people who are also one of the creators of those destructive plans or schemes that come here, not actually attend the Independence Day of an independent country freed from all kinds of influence?! Our door is open to everyone. We are ready to cooperate with any of our partner countries, only on worthy parity. I am not really involved in organizational issues. If I were involved in organizational activities, believe me, I would definitely not send an invitation to the German ambassador. I say this honestly and with complete objectivity, because this person and these people have not only gone beyond diplomatic values, the Vienna Convention, not only trampled the dignity of the host country and everything that is imposed on them by the Vienna Convention, but also directly and openly insulted and have been speaking out against our society for years. If it were up to me, specifically Irakli Kirtskhalia, I would definitely not have sent an invitation to the German ambassador, nor to the ambassador of any country that comes out and openly says that if the price of fuel in their country has increased 5 times and their population cannot afford to buy fuel, Georgia should also suffer along with them. It turns out that our country should suffer like them. How can I admit that this person represents the worthy interests of a worthy partner country," Kirtskhalia said.
