May 26 has been declared Georgia’s Independence Day in Washington, D.C. According to the Georgian Embassy in the US, this was stated in a proclamation by Washington Mayor Mariel Bowser.

“This decision is reflected in a proclamation by the Mayor of Washington, D.C., Muriel Bowser, in which she congratulates Georgia on its Independence Day and notes that Georgia is an important member of the international community.

Mayor Bowser highlights that Georgia possesses strong democratic values and stands out for its dynamic economic development. Bowser also emphasizes the country’s historical heritage and cultural diversity”, reads the proclamation.
