Metropolitan Bishop Giorgi Jamdeliani: When you are called a law enforcement officer, you must serve justice and people; when ten people are violently attacking one person, you are no different from an ordinary criminal

“When you are called a law enforcement officer, you must serve justice and people. When ten people are violently attacking one person, you are no different from an ordinary criminal,” writes the Bishop of Marneuli and Hujabi, Giorgi Jamdeliani, on social media, responding to the incident in Gori.

For context, in Gori’s so-called Kombinati settlement, two individuals were physically assaulted today by a group of law enforcement officers. Footage of the incident has been circulated on social media by “Kartli News.” The Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into alleged abuse of power involving police violence.
