Prosecutor's Office arrests 6 law enforcement officers for violent abuse of power in Gori

The Prosecutor's Office has arrested six people for allegedly abusing their official authority through violence in Gori.

"The investigation conducted by the Investigation Department of the Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Prosecutor's Office, in coordination with the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, established that on May 27, 2026, in the city of Gori, the defendants exceeded their official authority by violence while detaining the victim. As a result of the violence, the rights of the victim were essentially violated, and his health was damaged.

Based on the evidence obtained as a result of the investigation conducted in the shortest possible time, the defendants were arrested on May 28. They will be charged within the time limit specified by law under Article 333, Part Three, Subparagraph "b" of the Criminal Code (exceeding official authority, committed by violence), which provides for a sentence of 5 to 8 years in prison.
