Doctor at the First University Clinic on Papuna Lotsulashvili: The patient refused to remain at Vivamed - his condition worsened while at home - he is undergoing examinations with us, and at this stage a concussion has not been confirmed

According to Manana Lobzhanidze, the emergency duty doctor at the First University Clinic, Papuna Lotsulashvili, who was physically assaulted by police officers in Gori, initially discharged himself voluntarily from the clinic, but later his condition worsened and he had to be hospitalized again.

As she noted, at this stage a concussion has not been confirmed by a CT scan.

“The patient was at the Vivamed clinic, where examinations were conducted, but the patient refused to remain hospitalized and was discharged home. While at home, his condition worsened somewhat. He is currently undergoing examinations with us, and based on the results we will decide whether the patient will remain hospitalized or be discharged home. At this stage, a concussion has not been confirmed by computed tomography,” Manana Lobzhanidze stated.

For context, in Gori’s so-called Kombinati settlement, law enforcement officers physically assaulted two individuals — Papuna Lotsulashvili and his friend. Six law enforcement officers have been detained in connection with the incident. They will be charged under Article 333, Part 3, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code, which concerns abuse of official authority committed with violence. The offense carries a sentence of 5 to 8 years in prison.

At the same time, an investigation has also been launched against Papuna Lotsulashvili under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which concerns violence against a police officer.
