Kakhа Kaladze’s governance has failed. His attempt to mislead Tbilisi residents again and present as if something has been achieved during his tenure is one big lie, said the anti-corruption secretary of the United National Movement, Vaso Urushadze, at today’s briefing. According to him, since 2017, Kaladze has misused 16 billion GEL of Tbilisi residents’ funds, and an investigation into the matter is necessary.
“The urban catastrophe of Tbilisi has its causes, and those causes are Kakhа Kaladze. Since 2017, Kaladze has misused 16 billion GEL belonging to the citizens of Georgia and Tbilisi residents. There are many questions regarding possible corrupt deals, and a major investigation is needed into what Kakhа Kaladze spent this 16 billion GEL on over the years, and why all problems in the capital remain unresolved—from traffic congestion to parking, municipal transport, various municipal services, and the development of road infrastructure.
Yesterday we heard very big lies from Kakhа Kaladze, such as claims that there is no need to build bridges, overpasses, or implement a tram project. We have around 22 projects that Kaladze promised to the residents of the capital, but none of them have been fulfilled.
This is a reflection of Kakhа Kaladze’s governance. The only thing he manages to do is issue fines and subject Tbilisi residents to daily pressure, and then irrationally spend and waste the revenue collected from these fines, using it to ensure income for his personal comfort,” said Vaso Urushadze.
