Mikheil Kavelashvili: We realize that in a rapidly changing world, the path to survival lies in preserving peace and pursuing a multi-vector foreign policy – our region must become a model space for peaceful coexistence and dialogue among civilizations

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, the transformation of the international order has accelerated even further, and Georgia has found itself facing extremely serious challenges. It is enough to note that over the past several years, our government has prevented five externally organized attempts to destabilize the country and overthrow the state, President Mikheil Kavelashvili said while addressing the 16th Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development.

According to Kavelashvili, Georgian society has demonstrated the ability to critically assess global developments and firmly defend the country's national interests.

"Despite unprecedented internal and external challenges, we have not only maintained peace but have also ensured sustainable economic growth. Our society has been able to critically evaluate ongoing global events, preserve an objective perception of reality, and uncompromisingly protect its national interests. It is thanks to the vigilance and support of the Georgian people that we have been able to begin the journey toward genuine sovereignty.

We clearly understand that in a rapidly changing world, the path to survival lies in preserving peace and pursuing a balanced, multi-vector foreign policy. This is the solid foundation that ensures the country's sustainable economic development. The future of the South Caucasus should also be built on these principles. Our region should become not a battleground for geopolitical confrontation, but a model space for stability, trade and economic cooperation, peaceful coexistence, and dialogue among civilizations," Kavelashvili stated.

The Georgian President also emphasized that the country's long-term strengthening is impossible without a deep understanding and appreciation of its indigenous culture and rich historical heritage.

"However, physical survival and economic progress alone are not enough. The long-term strengthening of the country is inconceivable without a profound understanding and appreciation of our indigenous culture and rich history. Our past is the solid foundation upon which we must build a modern, strong, and sovereign state.

I believe that, based on these values, this forum will become a productive platform for sharing new ideas and perspectives that will help our country and the region respond to existing challenges with dignity," Kavelashvili said.

In addition, the President stressed that in an era of global uncertainty and media-driven perceptions, special importance should be attached to the course pursued by Georgia's current government.

"Today, we are witnessing the writing of an entirely new chapter in the history of humanity. The international order is undergoing a fundamental transformation. The world is moving from a unipolar system toward a multipolar international order, while the future is becoming increasingly uncertain and unpredictable.

The sustainable and just resolution of conflicts has become even more difficult, and global peace is more fragile today than ever before. For this reason, power, hard realism, and pragmatism are becoming increasingly important in international relations.

In an era of global uncertainty and media-driven perceptions, particular significance is attached to the vector to which Georgia's current government remains committed: peace, stability, sustainable development, sovereignty, the protection of national interests, and standing guard over the truth," the President of Georgia stated.
