Ana Buchukuri, one of the leaders of the opposition party For Georgia, has called on Georgia’s Foreign Ministry to clarify its position following reports that the first expert-level meeting of the 3+3 regional cooperation format will take place on June 5.
Commenting on a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Buchukuri wrote on social media:
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation says that the first expert-level meeting of the 3+3 format will be held tomorrow, June 5. Will Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs hide again, or will it tell the citizens of Georgia something?”
The 3+3 format is a regional platform that includes Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, alongside Russia, Turkey, and Iran. Georgia has consistently refrained from participating in the platform due to Russia’s occupation of Georgian territories.
Buchukuri’s remarks come amid renewed attention to the format following Moscow’s announcement that an expert-level meeting is scheduled for June 5.
