At the UN, China, Iran and the United Arab Emirates did not support Georgia's resolution on the return of our refugees to Abkhazia. These are exactly the friends of this traitor, criminal, Russian regime, - Giorgi Baramidze, one of the leaders of the National Movement, stated at the briefing.

According to Baramidze, Georgia's true friends, who are part of civilization, support the country's sovereignty and unity.

“We recently learned that China, Iran and the United Arab Emirates did not support the resolution submitted by Georgia to the UN regarding the return of our IDPs to Abkhazia, which is a very sad and deplorable fact.

These are exactly the friends of this traitorous, criminal, Russian regime, and on the contrary, the countries with whom they have a conflict and with whom they are trying to build a wall between Georgia and the rest of the civilized world - these are the United States of America, the European Union and other civilized states, naturally, as they stood by Georgia before, supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and the humanitarian resolutions regarding the return of our IDPs to their homes, they still support them today, and this is true friendship, and for this we want to thank them,” Baramidze said.

The opposition politician also assessed the statement made by the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, regarding Georgia and noted that the Georgian Dream interprets this statement differently.

“As for the attempt by this traitorous regime to initiate a so-called reset process with the United States and the attempt to spread disinformation in this regard, our society saw the statement of the United States Embassy and the next day the response of Secretary of State Marco Rubio to Congressman Wilson’s question.

The first part was the agreement with his assessments that there is an illegitimate, corrupt, pro-Russian and pro-Chinese regime in Georgia, which is destroying Georgian democracy and hindering the normal, civilized development of our country, and Rubio agreed with this. Of course, the Kremlin’s propaganda media will not cover this.

At the same time, Rubio very clearly reiterated what was also in the embassy’s statement, that, naturally, the United States wants to have relations with the de facto regime operating in Georgia, even if it is illegitimate, but this must be done first and foremost for the sake of the Georgian people, for the sake of Georgia, and because the fate of Georgia is not indifferent to the United States and the United States, like the European Union, wants stability in Georgia, Ossetia, and, of course, the opposition to be involved in the processes that should be developed in a democratic country.

Naturally, this cannot be in such conditions when we still have political prisoners in Georgia, we still have a regime that arrests people during protests, for standing on the sidewalk, which does everything to prevent a normal, civilized, democratic process from taking place in Georgia,” said Giorgi Baramidze.

For information, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution “On the Status of Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia and the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, Georgia,” the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

According to the agency, the resolution, which was adopted by the Assembly during its 80th session, was supported by 107 countries, while 8 countries voted against it.
