The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, held a face-to-face meeting with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
According to the press service of the Presidential Administration, at the meeting the parties discussed the close friendly ties between the two countries, cultural proximity, common values and modern geopolitical challenges.
According to them, the parties also discussed the need to deepen cooperation between Georgia and Serbia in the political, economic, technological, educational and scientific-research areas.
“Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili noted that the common cultural identity and the complex challenges facing both states create a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations and support for each other’s positions in the international arena.
He particularly emphasized the intensified dynamics of high-level visits between the countries. It was noted that the visit of the President of Georgia to Belgrade in December 2025 was the first visit at the presidential level, and today President Aleksandar Vučić is visiting Tbilisi for the first time as part of an official visit, which will give a qualitatively new impetus to the Georgian-Serbian partnership and bilateral dialogue.
During the meeting, the leaders reviewed the ongoing political processes in the two countries, and also focused on the importance of ensuring global peace, security and stability. It was voiced that against the background of a fundamental transformation of the international order and balance of power, maintaining stability and peace in both regions is gaining particular relevance.
The President of Georgia emphasized that Georgia, as one of the key links of the “Middle Corridor”, is interested in expanding its partnership with the Western Balkans region, which will contribute to the development of transport and logistics links between Europe and Asia.
It was once again confirmed that the vector of peace, stability and economic prosperity chosen by the Georgian authorities is unshakable, as evidenced by the country’s traditional peacekeeping policy in the South Caucasus, which aims to achieve long-term, sustainable stability in the region and deepen mutual trust between neighboring states.
The President of Georgia thanked the President of the Republic of Serbia for his firm support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. After the meeting, President Aleksandar Vučić left a memorable entry in the book of honored guests of the Orbeliani Palace," reads the information released by the presidential administration.
