Ia Darakhvelidze, convicted in the events developed near the Atoneli Palace on October 4, has been declared a national wanted person.
Ia Darakhvelidze did not attend the announcement of the guilty verdict against her today, which is why, in order to execute the sentence, she was initially declared a national wanted person. In the event that she has left the country, an international search will be declared for her.
The court has found doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili and 6 other people - Ia Darakhvelidze, Davit Zhgenti, Konstantine Kokaia, Kakhaber Mzhavanadze, Zakro Albutashvili and Davit Sturua - guilty in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4.
The decision was made by Judge Giorgi Gelashvili.
Six of the persons were sentenced to 5 years in prison, and Ia Darakhvelidze was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Doctor Giorgi Chakhunashvili has been arrested in the courtroom. He had been free on bail until now.
All those detained in connection with the events that took place on October 4 have been charged under Article 19-222, Part 2, Subparagraph “a” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies an attempt to seize and block strategic and special importance objects committed as a group. They have also been charged under Article 225, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies participation in group violence. In total, out of 64 individuals charged in connection with the events that took place near the Atoneli Palace on October 4, plea agreements were signed with 22 individuals.
