The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, told journalists that he suspects there are individuals interested in creating a “red line” between the EU and Georgia, while simultaneously allowing Russia to pursue its political agenda.
According to him, “the National Movement” has always acted in favor of Russian interests.
“There is a serious conspiracy, an anti-Georgian coalition that has been helping the occupier in every direction and continues to do so today. Groundless propaganda that we are supposedly connected to Iran and China, and therefore the EU does not defend Georgia’s interests, is harmful propaganda - no less damaging than what Kaja Kallas is doing against Georgia.
I suspect there are people interested in creating a kind of red line between the European Union and Georgia, while at the same time allowing Russia to carry out its policies. We do not exclude this, because ‘National Movement’ has always acted in favor of Russian interests, despite its rhetoric while in power. It was always supported by what is called the European People’s Party. This is the reality we are observing.
There is a serious conspiracy, an anti-Georgian union that has been helping the occupier in every direction and continues to do so. We hope they are doing it unintentionally and will eventually wake up and understand what is really happening. They call the Georgian government pro-Russian, while in reality no step has been taken that would give Russia an advantage over Georgia.
Even sanctions would, in practice, push Georgia into an irreversible process of destruction. When you look at this reality, you understand that both your opponents in Georgia and their media act against national interests and allow Russia to advance its policies. This is basic arithmetic - there is no other explanation,” Volski said.
