The mother of the murdered teacher Giga Avaliani welcomes the qualification of the charges brought against Giorgi Malania, the son of the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

“Based on the abundant, solid, direct and indirect evidence available in the case, the Prosecutor's Office made the right decision and aggravated the charges against Giorgi Malania.
Currently, he has been charged under subparagraph ‘l’ of part 3 of Article 117, in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (complicity in group intentional infliction of serious bodily injury), which provides for imprisonment of up to 13 years as a type and measure of punishment,” Kupatadze writes.

According to the agency, the Prosecutor's Office will petition the court within the legally established timeframe with a motion to impose pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint against the accused.
Specifically, the son of the former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Malania, has been charged under subparagraph “l” of part 3 of Article 117, in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (complicity in group intentional infliction of serious bodily injury), which provides for imprisonment of up to 13 years.
