Uzbek Ministers visiting Georgia inspected construction works of the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port and Poti Port infrastructure

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili showed the construction works of the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port on-site to the visiting Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov. The ministers also inspected the port infrastructure in Poti, including “APM Terminals Poti,” the new seaport of “Pace Group,” and the Free Industrial Zone.

According to the ministry, the completion of the first phase of the Anaklia Port project is planned for 2029, after which the port’s annual capacity will be at least 600,000 TEU.

“Active construction works of maritime infrastructure are currently underway on the territory of the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port, carried out by the world-leading Belgian company Jan De Nul N.V. together with its Georgian partner.

The completion of the first phase of the project is planned for 2029, after which the port’s annual throughput capacity will be at least 600,000 TEU. In addition, the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port will be able to accommodate large Panamax-type vessels, which other Georgian ports cannot receive,” the information states.

Regarding the inspection of Poti’s port infrastructure, the Georgian Economy Minister introduced the Uzbek Cabinet members to future planned projects and emphasized the full readiness of Georgia’s ports in the process of developing the Middle Corridor.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with Laziz Kudratov and Ilkhom Makhkamov, also visited the Poti Free Industrial Zone, which is a leader in the country in terms of business activity volume.
