Irakli Cheishvili: We have developed immunity to harsh resolutions - we do not intend to take a single step back, the resolutions will remain scraps of paper

"We have seen the harsh resolutions adopted by them many times, which will remain [nothing but] scraps of paper – we have developed an immunity regarding this issue," stated Georgian Dream MP Irakli Cheishvili while speaking about a UN resolution.

According to him, "Georgian Dream" does not intend to take a single step back.

"You see the messages voiced by our parliamentary delegation at the OSCE. We are utilizing absolutely every platform to show our partners - and non-partners - our political course. There was talk of the 'Moscow Mechanism,' as well as occupation. Numerous reports have been made by our delegation. As for the resolution - we have stated many times that under no circumstances do we intend to take a step back regarding these specific issues - whether it concerns the 'Law on Transparency,' the 'Law on Family Values,' or the 'Law on Grants.' We have our own declared policy. These laws are very important for the future of our country; therefore, we do not intend to take a single step back. We have seen the harsh resolutions adopted by them many times, which will remain scraps of paper. Consequently, we have developed an immunity regarding this issue," Cheishvili stated.

For information, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will adopt the "Hague Declaration" on July 8, which contains a resolution regarding Georgia. The main sponsor of the resolution, "Protecting Election Integrity and Fundamental Freedoms in Georgia," is American Congressman Joe Wilson. The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly calls on the Georgian government to: "Release all Georgian political prisoners identified by national and international human rights groups; repeal all legislation that restricts fundamental freedoms and contradicts Georgia's obligations regarding the protection of human rights."
