A minor with a fascist-Nazi ideology, who was accused of organizing acts of violence and torture against individuals whose lifestyle was deemed unacceptable by the group, has been sentenced to 14 years and 6 months in prison

The Tbilisi City Court has sentenced one of the juvenile defendants in a case involving torture committed by an organized group, organizing group violence, and participating in it. The defendant, who adhered to a fascist-Nazi ideology, was initially sentenced to 14 years and 6 months in prison.

According to the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office, the defendant organized acts of violence and torture against individuals, including minors.

“The Tbilisi City Court fully upheld the evidence presented by the prosecution and found one of the juvenile defendants guilty of torture committed by an organized group motivated by intolerance, as well as organizing and participating in group violence.

The evidence examined during the trial established that the defendant, who adhered to a fascist-Nazi ideology, organized acts of violence and torture against individuals, including minors, whose lifestyle was deemed unacceptable by the group, and personally subjected the victims to physical and psychological abuse.

The Tbilisi City Court found the defendant guilty under Article 144¹, Part 3(b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (torture committed by an organized group, two counts), Article 144¹, Part 2(g) and Part 3(b) (torture committed by an organized group against a person known in advance to be a minor), and Article 225, Parts 1 and 2 (organizing and participating in group violence accompanied by violence).

The court imposed a sentence of 14 years and 6 months’ imprisonment. However, pursuant to the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Code, the sentence was reduced by one-third, resulting in a final prison term of 9 years and 8 months,” the statement said.
