The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, met with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Presidential Administration reports.
“At the meeting held in Doha, the President of Georgia personally expressed his condolences to the Emir of the State of Qatar on the death of the former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and paid tribute to his contribution to the development of modern Qatar.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the existing partnership between Georgia and Qatar and the prospects for the development of cooperation. The President thanked the State of Qatar for its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
The importance of peace, stability and diplomatic dialogue in the region, including Qatar’s positive role in international mediation, was also emphasized at the meeting,” reads the information.
