We are trying to help Brussels save its reputation, because they have dug in too deeply and do not know how to get out - time is running out, the European Union needs Georgia more than Georgia needs the EU, and sooner or later they will have to sit down with us and start talking, - Georgian Dream MP Levan Machavariani told journalists.
According to him, either the current EU leadership will come to its senses and start negotiations with Georgia on fair grounds, or "we must wait for changes to occur in the European Union".
"It is very shameful that they say - "We do not talk to the government, we talk to the people." Who are they talking to?! They are talking to the NGOs and the opposition agents that they themselves finance. Let them continue talking to them. What did they gain by talking to them?! They neither replaced the Georgian Dream with a revolution, nor did they win the Georgian Dream through elections. People are on our side, and therefore, the previous elections ended with a crushing score. They will get the same result in the next elections. How long should all this continue?! Of course, over the last 4-5 years, starting from the Prime Minister and ending with an ordinary MP, we have always said that we are ready to come to Brussels, despite these unjust 4-5 years, and start relations from a new point of view. But this relationship must be based on the principles of justice and, of course, the discussion must always be argumentative. We are doing all this to help Brussels save its reputation, because they have buried themselves very deeply and do not know how to get out. There have been so many lies, pressure, and blackmail for so many years. Time is running out, the importance of the middle corridor has been doubled, the EU needs Georgia more than Georgia needs the EU, and therefore, sooner or later, they will have to sit down with us and start talking. Either they will come to their senses, sit down and start negotiations with us on fair grounds, or we will have to wait for changes to occur in the European Union,” Machavariani said.
