Government calls information that 3,237 square meters of additional space in Georgia Hotel was sold for a symbolic price manipulative and explains that in reality, "the sale of the space was carried out in a formal manner "

Certain media outlets have spread blatantly manipulative information that the Georgian government allegedly sold 3,237 square meters of additional space in the Hotel Georgia in Tbilisi for a symbolic price. In fact, even a cursory reading of the relevant decision of the Georgian government was enough to understand that the sale of the space was carried out in a completely formal manner, - the Georgian government administration has released a statement about the above.

As stated in the statement, during the sale of the Hotel Georgia, it was established that there was a factual inaccuracy between the area recorded in the surveying plan drawn up by the state years ago and the actual area of the hotel. To eliminate this error, the area corresponding to the error - 3,237 square meters - was transferred to the hotel owner for a symbolic price, in a completely formal manner, so that he did not actually increase the size of the property.

"The full privatization of the Georgia Hotel was carried out many years ago, after which its owner changed several times. In the last case, during the alienation of the hotel, it was established that there was a factual inaccuracy between the area recorded in the surveying plan drawn up by the state years ago and the actual area of the hotel. In order to eliminate the aforementioned error and protect the principle of justice, the area corresponding to the error - 3,237 square meters - was transferred to the hotel owner for a symbolic price, in a completely formal manner, in such a way that it did not actually increase the size of the property.

All of the above confirms that specific media outlets either failed to establish the simple truth, or they deliberately disseminated blatantly manipulative information.

After February 8, 2024, the Georgian government completely prohibited the practice of alienating state property for a symbolic price and in a direct manner, and will remain committed to this principle in the future.

We call on all media outlets to refrain from disseminating incorrect and blatantly manipulative information and misleading the public in the future,” reads the statement.
