The hotel administration used all available means to prevent the incident and de-escalate the situation. According to the statement, the confrontation was preceded by an incident in which liquid was poured onto the musical equipment.

“Given the high public interest, on behalf of Agarani Estate Hotel, we would like to provide the public with complete and comprehensive information regarding the unfortunate incident that occurred on July 18.

We are aware of the strong emotions caused in society by this incident. Part of Georgia’s territories is occupied by the Russian Federation, and the hotel administration’s position regarding this reality is unequivocal and unchanged. It is also fundamentally unacceptable to us to show disrespect toward the Georgian state, its sovereignty, and national dignity.

On July 18, approximately one-third of the hotel’s accommodation capacity was allocated to a wedding event. On that day, the hotel was almost fully occupied, while other guests had been informed in advance that a wedding event was taking place at the hotel.

At approximately 20:16, a verbal confrontation began between participants in the wedding event and other hotel guests. The video footage in the hotel’s possession shows wedding guests looking toward the upper floors of the hotel and pointing to a particular circumstance. The confrontation was preceded by an incident in which liquid was poured onto the musical equipment.

As soon as the incident was detected, hotel staff and the security service became involved and attempted to neutralize the conflict situation.

At 20:20, approximately four minutes after the verbal confrontation began, hotel employees went to the room of the relevant guests. They remained with the guests until 20:26 and attempted to defuse the situation and prevent further escalation of the conflict.

Following communication with the guests, at approximately 20:28, security personnel informed the participants in the wedding event that the hotel planned to move the guests to an alternative room in order to prevent visual or other contact between the parties.

From 20:30 to 20:37, hotel staff searched for an alternative room at the reception desk. During the same period, the hotel contacted the guide accompanying the guests, informed him of the conflict situation, and asked him to come to the hotel. The possibility of transferring the guests from the hotel to another hotel was also considered.

At 20:39, the hotel administration decided to call law enforcement authorities, and a call was made to 112. Accordingly, the hotel administration called the police before the physical confrontation began.

At 20:40, security personnel noticed that one of the participants in the wedding event had taken the elevator to an upper floor. A hotel employee immediately followed him. However, by the time the elevator returned and the employee reached the third floor, the physical confrontation had already taken place by 20:42.

As soon as the physical incident was detected, the hotel administration called emergency medical services.

At 20:55, the guide accompanying the guests and a patrol police crew arrived at the hotel.

At 21:09, an emergency medical team arrived at the hotel.

We emphasize that the hotel administration used all available means to prevent the incident and de-escalate the situation. Several security officers became involved immediately and attempted to prevent contact between the parties and avoid a physical confrontation.

The hotel is cooperating with the investigation. The video footage in the hotel’s possession, as well as other relevant information, has been handed over to law enforcement authorities.
