Sopio Sigua-Shatberava: Ioseb Sigua called me yesterday - his lawyer told me they were together, browsing the WhatsApp app, and that he called me accidentally, which is illogical - I demand his arrest

Sopio Sigua-Shatberava, the wife of Ioseb Sigua, a former senior police official and former head of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, says that her former husband, Ioseb Sigua, called her late yesterday and is demanding his arrest.

Speaking to Interpressnews, Sopio Sigua-Shatberava said that Ioseb Sigua’s lawyer, Teona Gvazava, explained to her that she and Sigua had been browsing the WhatsApp application together when he accidentally called her. However, Sopio Sigua-Shatberava considers this illogical, saying that during the court hearing held on July 23, Ioseb Sigua and his lawyer presented the judge with around 200 pages of WhatsApp screenshots.

“He called me at 10:55 p.m. yesterday, and I hung up. If I had answered, that would directly warrant his detention. I called 112, and the police came.

“However, after learning about my call to 112, he contacted the investigator, his lawyer Gvazava covered for him, and told me that they had been together, browsing the WhatsApp application, and that he had called me accidentally. This is illogical because the trial lasted nine hours yesterday, and there were nearly 200 pages of my WhatsApp screenshots. In other words, these materials had already been obtained and processed and had been submitted to the judge.

“The police officers who arrived asked me whether I could take this incident into consideration. I cannot take it into consideration, because if he accidentally kills me tomorrow, Gvazava or someone else will probably say then too that ‘he did not mean to, and she was accidentally killed.’

“I demand his arrest. If I had answered him, that would warrant detention,” Sopio Sigua-Shatberava said.

It should be recalled that Ioseb Sigua’s wife, Sopio Sigua-Shatberava, said on the program “Nodar Meladze’s Saturday” that Ioseb Sigua had threatened to kill her, throw her from the 12th floor, put her in a barrel and bury her.
