The court has upheld the restraining order issued against former senior police officer and former head of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Sigua.
The decision was made by Tbilisi City Court Judge Lela Gogishvili. According to her, the court did not prove the fact of physical or psychological violence on the part of Sigua, however, due to the fact that a criminal investigation has been initiated, the order remains in effect.
Ioseb Sigua’s wife, Sophio Sigua-Shatberava, stated in “Nodar Meladze’s Saturday” that Ioseb Sigua threatened to kill her, throw her from the 12th floor, put her in a barrel, and bury her.
Based on the victim's appeal, a restraining order has been issued for Ioseb Sigua and he is being monitored via an electronic bracelet.
The Tbilisi Court of Appeal also upheld the electronic bracelet monitoring.
