“Geostat”: In the second quarter of 2026, 1.7 million arrivals of international non-resident travelers were recorded in Georgia, which is 4.9% less than the previous year’s figure - the largest number of visitors was recorded from Russia
In the second quarter of 2026, 1.7 million arrivals of international non-resident travelers were recorded on the territory of Georgia, which is 4.9% less than the corresponding period of the previous year. The largest share of those arriving in Georgia, 43.8%, were travelers aged 31-50. This information is disseminated by the National Statistics Office.
According to “Geostat,” the number of visits made by international visitors amounted to 1.5 million, which is 4.5% less than the figure for the corresponding period of 2025.
In the second quarter of 2026, the number of international visitors reached 1.3 million, which is 5.2% less than the corresponding period of the previous year.
“In the reporting period, international visitors made 1.2 million tourist-type visits, which is 2.7% less than the figure for the corresponding period of the previous year.
81.5% of international visitors were only tourists. The share of only excursionists amounted to 14.8%, while 3.8% of visitors were both tourists and excursionists.
In the second quarter of 2026, the largest number of visitors - 328.9 thousand - was recorded from the Russian Federation, accounting for 25.1% of the total number of visitors.
Turkey ranked second with a 16.9% share, and Armenia third with a 10.8% share.
The largest number of visits was made by citizens of the Russian Federation (380.1 thousand), Turkey (287.0 thousand), and Armenia (199.6 thousand).
The majority of visitors (45.6%) belonged to the 31-50 age category, while the number of women accounted for 42.9% of the total number of visitors.
In the second quarter of 2026, the largest share of visits (49.6%) was made for the purpose of rest, recreation, and leisure.
The majority of visits were made to Tbilisi and the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, with 875.5 thousand and 621.3 thousand visits, respectively.
In the second quarter of 2026, the average number of nights spent during visits amounted to 5.48 nights, which is 3.5% higher than the figure recorded in the second quarter of 2025 (5.30 nights). 81.8% of the visits made were of a repeat nature.
In the second quarter of 2026, expenses incurred during visits equaled 3.0 billion lari, which is 13.3% less than the figure for the corresponding period of the previous year.
The average expenditure per visit decreased by 9.2% compared to the second quarter of 2025 and amounted to 1,922.1 lari,” the information states.
