It is regrettable that she could not attend the preparatory Political Council, - this is how one of the leaders of the “United National Movement,” Petre Tsiskarishvili, answered journalists’ question regarding the absence of the acting chairperson of the party from the Political Council meeting.

According to him, the congress is held when Tina Bokuchava is in the city.

“Tina Bokuchava is not in the city. She could not manage to come. Not all members of the Political Council are in the city based on this calendar given. Many could not manage to attend; some joined us. The congress is held when Tina is in the city. Holding the Political Council meeting is the preparatory stage before holding the congress. We cannot target everyone’s logistical goals, movements, presence or absence in the city in this way. That the acting chairperson should be at the congress is one of the necessary factors for us. We hope that she will join us on August 5. It is regrettable that she could not attend the preparatory Political Council.

There is a very lively discussion in the party, both regarding current political issues and exactly the same regarding the party’s internal organizational topics. Whoever the congress elects as chairperson, or through broader elections, that person will be responsible for the party’s future activities and will be called the chairperson.

It is a requirement of the law that a party must have a Political Council and a chairperson; accordingly, our statute and the decisions of the congress will also be in line with these requirements of the legislation.

As for Nanuka Zhorzholiani, if she puts forward her candidacy for this position, accordingly the delegates of the congress will discuss it and whoever they support will be the one,” Petre Tsiskarishvili stated.

For information, the congress of the “United National Movement” will be held on August 5 at 15:00. At the congress the “United National Movement” will elect a new chairperson.

The 2-year term of office of the party’s former chairperson Tina Bokuchava, as defined by the party’s statute, expired on July 8 of the current year.
