Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested a wanted man known by the nickname "Faifura", who is accused of membership in the criminal underworld (the so-called "thieves' world").

According to the Ministry, criminal proceedings against the suspect were initiated in absentia on April 15, 2026, after which he was declared wanted. He was subsequently arrested in Tbilisi.

The investigation found that the suspect was involved in resolving financial disputes between citizens by acting according to the so-called "thieves' traditions." During these informal gatherings, he allegedly made decisions and ordered one party to pay a specified sum of money to the other party within a set period.

Investigators also allege that he organized a so-called "criminal underworld hearing" in which it was decided that he would receive a large sum of money as a share of one individual's business. According to the investigation, he intended to distribute part of the money to alleged "thieves-in-law" residing abroad and keep the remaining amount for himself.

The case is being investigated under Article 223¹ of Georgia's Criminal Code, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years' imprisonment.
