As Dekanoidze told journalists before the congress, Tina Bokuchava, as the former chairwoman of the party, should not miss today’s congress.

“This is a congress that was determined by the party’s agenda. You know that a body should be elected at this congress that will be responsible for governing the party during the transitional period, and there will also be a “reform council”, which was discussed during this period. Also, this will be the congress at which many important party agendas will be approved. I can’t tell you about Tina Bokuchava, I don’t have any information. I really hope she will come because she was the party chairwoman for 2 years and I really don’t think she will miss this congress,” Dekanoidze said.

Dekanoidze is confident that “the obstacles that may exist in the party will definitely be overcome.”

“Unequivocally, cooperation with everyone must continue. You have known my position for years. When the existential issue of Georgian statehood is at stake, it is very important to have a synergistic and not destructive policy. I think the obstacles that may exist will definitely be overcome,” Dekanoidze said.

In addition, she noted that the political council session held by the party was legitimate.

“The political council was completely legitimate. I was not a member of this political council, but I must emphasize that the Secretary General had the right to convene the political council. I talked to my friends and it has full legitimacy, there was a quorum. It is very important that during the transitional period the congress and the political council have the legal aspects that they had. We have never held an illegitimate political council session,” Dekanoidze said.

For information, the National Movement is holding its 13th congress today. Previously, the party held a political council session, which was not attended by the acting chairwoman of the National Movement, Tina Bokuchava.
