Levan Machavariani: I express my respect toward the “Sukhishvili,” but when traveling to Russia after the occupation of our territories is not a problem and becomes unacceptable only after the events in Ukraine, a legitimate question arises: is this an order or following a trend?!

It is regrettable that after Russia’s attack on our country, the agent opposition, the NGO sector affiliated with them, and a number of representatives of the cultural sphere maintained a normal attitude toward Russia, and this attitude changes sharply only when Russia carried out analogous actions against Ukraine, - writes Levan Machavariani, a member of the parliamentary majority, on social media.

As he notes, in the case of the agent opposition and the NGOs affiliated with them, this is clearly an order, while in the case of cultural figures it is in some cases an order and in others following a trend.

“It is regrettable that after Russia’s attack on our country, the agent opposition, the NGO sector affiliated with them, and a number of representatives of the cultural sphere maintained a normal attitude toward Russia, and this attitude changes sharply only when Russia carried out analogous actions against Ukraine. In the case of the agent opposition and the NGOs affiliated with them, this is clearly an order, while in the case of cultural figures it is in some cases an order and in others following a trend; however, to put it mildly, neither is healthy.

First of all, of course, I express my respect for the stage activity of the ensemble ‘Sukhishvili.’ With their enormous contribution to our culture, this ensemble has, through its creative work, become an inseparable part of our identity. However, when after the occupation of our country’s territories traveling to Russia is not a problem and becomes unacceptable only after the events that unfolded in Ukraine, a legitimate question arises: is this an order or following a trend?!” - writes Machavariani.
