The same judge, Kvachantiradze, who left the electronic bracelet in force, cancelled the existing restraining order. The entire structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working to protect the criminal, - stated Sopio Sigua, the former wife of former high-ranking police official Ioseb Sigua.
According to Sopio Sigua, she is afraid that the case will be delayed.
“The same judge, Kvachantiradze, who left the electronic bracelet in force, cancelled the existing restraining order. These two decisions contradict each other. He probably cancelled the restraining order because the term had already expired - it ran out on Sunday - and perhaps, bureaucratically, so that it would look neat in the case file, he carried out the instruction that way. According to my information, since the bracelet was active and Kvachantiradze left it in force, if the restraining order had also been active and the term had not expired on Sunday, he would not have cancelled it.
The new circumstance is precisely that the restraining order was violated. This is a clear example of the fact that despite the violation of the order, he was not punished. This directly indicates bias; under the law, violation of a restraining order provides for imprisonment of up to three years. He put forward Gvazava as an alibi. This entire system is protecting him. How is it possible to violate a restraining order and not be imprisoned? They are operating with double standards in order to exert influence on people. The judge no longer saw a threat not because it does not really exist, but because the bracelet has also been removed and the term of the restraining order has expired. He took advantage of the fact that the term expired on Sunday, 9 August.
I knew exactly that he was being protected and I never felt safe. Even when he was wearing the bracelet, I constantly had the feeling of looking over my shoulder, of self-defence and of fear. The main thing here is not my emotional state, but the syndrome of impunity. I was silent for 13 years. It turns out I should have remained silent again, because my then feeling of defencelessness - that I would not find justice - has been confirmed today as well.
There is evidence in the prosecutor’s office, there are facts of destruction in the house, there are witnesses, including minors, who saw the beating with their own eyes. You cannot force a minor to give testimony, and even if you do, it will still become apparent in the dialogue. These children have been questioned. Ioseb Sigua is an abuser and a thief. When a person steals 200,000, that is the article on theft - why has he not been punished? He violated the restraining order - why was he not punished? The head of the press service and the consultation together are figuring out how to defeat me and how to defame me, for example, as if I am allergic. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is working by his side. The prosecutor’s office knows exactly that all of this is the truth. I am simply afraid that they will start delaying the case and drag it out for 5-6 years in order to avoid bringing charges. This is my only fear.
The entire structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working to protect the criminal, about whom they themselves know very well that he is a criminal. This is the worst fact,” - stated Sopio Sigua.
The Court of Appeals cancelled the restraining order issued against the former high-ranking police official, former head of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Sigua.
As a reminder, Ioseb Sigua’s wife, Sopio Sigua-Shatberava, stated on “Nodar Meladze’s Saturday” that Ioseb Sigua had threatened her with murder, throwing her from the 12th floor, putting her in a barrel and burying her.
Based on the victim’s application, a restraining order had been issued against Ioseb Sigua. As for electronic monitoring via an electronic bracelet, it was cancelled after the expiration of the relevant term.
