In the event of a reduction of risk factors, the “Kazbegi” customs checkpoint will continue operating in the usual regime at full capacity. The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance is disseminating information about this.

According to them, due to the activation of the alarm system located in the Devdoraki gorge, all types of customs control procedures have been suspended at the “Kazbegi” customs checkpoint.

At the same time, they explain that the import and export of goods across the customs border of Georgia, as well as customs control procedures with regard to natural persons crossing the state border through the said customs checkpoint, cannot be carried out.

“The Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance informs you that the alarm system located in the Devdoraki gorge has been activated, as a result of which the high-precision system immediately transmitted an alarm signal to the ‘Kazbegi’ customs checkpoint.

For the purpose of ensuring safety, as a result of coordinated work with the relevant state agencies, the employees of the said customs checkpoint, as well as all representatives of the Patrol Police and Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs present on site, employees of various companies, freight/passenger vehicles, their drivers and passengers have been transferred to a protected/safe territory.

We also clarify that all types of customs control procedures have been suspended at the ‘Kazbegi’ customs checkpoint. The import and export of goods across the customs border of Georgia, as well as customs control procedures with regard to natural persons crossing the state border through the said customs checkpoint, cannot be carried out.

In the event of a reduction of risk factors, the ‘Kazbegi’ customs checkpoint will continue operating in the usual regime at full capacity. Accordingly, the passage of passengers and cargo will be carried out without interruption,” - the information states.

As a reminder, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a signal notification was received from the early warning system installed in Devdoraki, which records a change in the event of a minimal rise in the flow in the riverbed, as a result of which the evacuation of citizens present on site, as well as employees of the Patrol Police and the Customs Service working at the checkpoint, to a safe place was carried out from the “Dariali” border checkpoint.
