The White House report once again makes it clear that under the “Georgian Dream” regime, Georgia is on the list of states that are not regarded as reliable political and economic partners, - this was stated by the Foreign Secretary of “Strong Georgia - Lelo,” Grigol Gegelia, responding to the White House report.
According to him, this White House report directly says that Georgia and more than 30 states are considered among those countries that help China in the process of circumventing this tariff policy.
“The White House report once again makes it clear that under the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime, Georgia is on the list of states that are not regarded as reliable political and economic partners. This time the matter concerns the presentation of Georgia within the so-called transit fraud as a country that is highly likely used by China both as one of the economic spaces for resale and for the purpose of exporting to the United States the type of goods whose export by Chinese companies would cost them far more due to the high tariff that the US has imposed on China. This White House report says very directly that Georgia and more than 30 states are considered among those countries that help China in the process of circumventing this tariff policy. This in itself is very problematic both from an economic and a political point of view. It places Georgia under the risk of higher tariffs being imposed and, of course, Georgia will be increasingly less considered as a partner carrying political and economic values.
In this situation, the resetting of political and economic relations is even more ridiculous than it was before, under the policy of the ‘Georgian Dream’ regime, when we hear from the US that either this course will change or there will be no normalization of relations with the US whatsoever. This is yet another blow for ‘Georgian Dream’ and yet another exposure of the regime which, unfortunately, has placed Georgia in the ranks of the most backward states that are perceived not as partners, but as problematic spaces,” Gegelia stated.
For information, the White House is publishing a report on China’s “shadow network of cargo shipments,” in which Georgia has been included along with 40 countries. This is noted in the report published by the White House - The Great Transshipment Scam.
In particular, according to the White House report, China uses third countries, including Georgia, for the purpose of circumventing US tariffs.
The administration of US President Donald Trump names 40 economies in the report that are part of China’s “shadow network of cargo shipments.”
