Two political entities - Lelo - Strong Georgia and Georgian Dream - have applied to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to participate in the October 3, 2026, by-elections for municipal councils.
The legally established deadline for submitting applications to the CEC expired on August 17.
At today’s meeting, the election administration determined the ballot numbers of the electoral subjects. Lelo - Strong Georgia will appear on the ballot under number 9, while Georgian Dream will be represented by number 41.
On October 3, 2026, by-elections for the Sakrebulo councils of the Vani, Tsalka, Dmanisi, and Akhmeta municipalities will be held. The by-elections in these municipalities will be conducted under the majoritarian system. Accordingly, voters will elect four majoritarian members of the respective municipal councils.
September 3 is the deadline for participating parties to submit their majoritarian candidates to the relevant district election commissions.
According to the CEC, a total of seven polling stations will be opened for the by-elections. Electronic voter verification and vote-counting devices will be used at four of them. At present, the number of registered voters is 2,201.
