Law-enforcement officers have detained one person on charges of trafficking of underage children. This information is released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the agency, the accused man forced his underage children, by using psychological and physical violence, to beg for alms and appropriated the money himself.
“Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the General Prosecutor’s Office, have detained one person on charges of trafficking committed against minors.
The investigation established that the accused man, by using psychological and physical violence, forced his underage children to beg for alms in Tbilisi and appropriated the money collected by them himself.
As a result of the investigative actions carried out, law-enforcement officers detained the man as an accused person.
At this stage, the victims are placed in the service centre of the Agency for State Care and Assistance for Victims and Survivors of Trafficking; there is no threat to their health.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 143¹, Parts 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code, which provides for deprivation of liberty of up to 17 years,” the information states.
