According to the statement of prosecutor Mariam Berdzenishvili, the former head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, does not admit any of the episodes charged against him and, accordingly, has not applied to the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the conclusion of a plea agreement.

As the prosecutor told journalists before the start of the court hearing, at today’s process on the case of the charge against Grigol Liluashvili the Prosecutor’s Office will complete the examination of the evidence. According to Mariam Berdzenishvili, on the basis of the evidence examined in Grigol Liluashvili’s case the prosecution considers that it is confirmed that he really committed all four episodes charged against him.

“As for the plea agreement, the prosecution always, in any case, naturally considers the statement of the accused and, if there is a desire related to a plea agreement. In this case, the accused Grigol Liluashvili does not admit any of the episodes charged against him and, accordingly, he has not made any application in this direction either,” Mariam Berdzenishvili stated.

For information, the former head of the State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, who came for questioning at the Prosecutor’s Office, was detained on 23 December 2025. He is charged under Article 338, Part 2, sub-paragraph “g” and Part 3, sub-paragraph “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which means the taking of a particularly large amount of a bribe by a group acting by prior agreement and provides for a penalty of deprivation of liberty from 11 to 15 years.
