Georgian Dream MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili has commented on the President’s pardon of some individuals detained during the protests, saying that “this is very welcome.”
As he wrote on social media, “Those who recognize state institutions will see the state take a step toward them as well.”
“This is very welcome. Those who recognize state institutions will see the state take a step toward them as well. If we continue moving in this direction, opposition will replace hatred. As for those who cannot move beyond hatred, the state will have its say,” Sharmanashvili wrote.
For the record, Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili pardoned 226 people in connection with the Mariamoba holiday. Among those pardoned are Avtandil Topchishvili and Tornike Mchedlishvili, who were detained in connection with the October 4 case, as well as Fridon Bubuteishvili, Davit Khomeriki, Simon Makharadze, Saba Jikia, Guram Khutashvili, Daniel Mumladze, and Denis Kulanin, who were detained during the protests.
