According to the Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation has been launched into an alleged incident of violence against lawyer Ia Siranashvili by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia released information about the matter.

“The Investigative Division of the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the alleged use of violence against lawyer Ia Siranashvili by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The investigation concerns the abuse of official powers through violence, a crime stipulated under Article 333, Part 3, Subparagraph (b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

All necessary investigative and procedural measures will be carried out as part of the criminal case, and the public will be additionally informed of the results,” the statement reads.

For reference, Tamaz Elizbarashvili was arrested at his home after his vehicle and residence were searched. His lawyer, Ia Siranashvili, said that law enforcement officers threw her out of the apartment during the search operation and kicked her.
