According to Lexo Svimonishvili, a lawyer for businessman Tamaz Elizbarashvili, law enforcement officers found nothing illegal during the search of Elizbarashvili’s home and person.

Speaking to Interpressnews, Svimonishvili said he plans to visit Elizbarashvili at the temporary detention facility today.

“He is being held at Temporary Detention Facility No. 3 of the City Police Department. I went there late last night, and I plan to visit him again today. He says that his rights were allegedly violated by police officers. I intend to discuss this issue with him in more detail today.

Presumably, they had information that Tamaz Elizbarashvili owned a firearm. However, they did not seize any item or substance from the house that would have been illegal. I cannot discuss other details at this stage, as I have not physically reviewed the case materials because Tamaz Elizbarashvili has not been charged and we are not a party to the case,” Svimonishvili said.

As for his colleague, another lawyer representing Elizbarashvili, Ia Siranashvili, she was taken to Vivamedi Clinic last night.

“I do not know her exact condition, as I have not been able to communicate with her personally. She was taken to the clinic for examinations. Other colleagues also expressed solidarity with her, and the chairperson of the association was also present. The clinic said she would remain there until morning. However, I do not know where she is at this stage, as I have been unable to contact her,” Svimonishvili said.

For reference, Tamaz Elizbarashvili was arrested at his home after his vehicle and apartment were searched. Elizbarashvili’s lawyer, Ia Siranashvili, said that law enforcement officers threw her out of the apartment during the search operation and kicked her. The Ministry of Internal Affairs says that Tamaz Elizbarashvili was detained on administrative charges for disobeying a lawful demand by a police officer.
