Giorgi Sioridze: When the European Commissioner for Enlargement speaks about enlargement, she does not even mention Georgia - this is the result of Georgian Dream’s anti-European and anti-Western policies and rhetoric, said Giorgi Sioridze, a member of Lelo - Strong Georgia.
According to him, any statement by Georgian Dream regarding the renewal of Georgia’s application in 2028 and the continuation of the country’s European integration process is nothing more than populism.
“A few years ago, Georgia was among the frontrunners, in the trio of Georgia, Ukraine, and Moldova. Today, unfortunately, Georgia has lost this opportunity and prospect. When the European Commissioner for Enlargement speaks about enlargement, she does not even mention Georgia. This is the result of Georgian Dream’s anti-European and anti-Western policies and rhetoric. They have burned every possible bridge with the European Union and its member states. Accordingly, any statement by them regarding the renewal of the application in 2028 and the continuation of Georgia’s European integration process is nothing more than populism. The renewal of Georgia’s European integration process will be possible only after this regime is changed,” Giorgi Sioridze said.
For reference, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos noted that “discussions are intensifying on how to best prepare the Union to welcome new members.”
“An enlarged Europe must be stronger to protect our democratic values at home and ensure our interests globally,” Marta Kos wrote.
