Stop deceiving citizens! Take responsibility for the one-year lies that have impoverished the Georgian people and temporarily abolish the excise tax on fuel! - This is how Tazo Datunashvili, one of the leaders of Lelo - Strong Georgia, addressed the Georgian Dream government.

However, he also noted that the government will not make this decision because it does not care about the interests of the Georgian people, their impoverishment, and is a government that is "drowning in Russian money, corruption and gold bars".

"Today, once again, we want to show you very specific facts about how the Georgian Dream is not interested and does not care about the problems of the citizens of Georgia and the Georgian people, how the Georgian Dream is sinking and drowning in black money, corruption and gold bars, and at the same time, the citizens of Georgia are getting poorer every month.

In this specific case, we will touch on the catastrophic increase in the price of gasoline and diesel in Georgia, which has been going on for months, despite Kobakhidze's absolutely false and fraudulent promises.

In the last week alone, using the example of specific retail chains, I will tell you the following catastrophic numbers: in the Socar network, Euro 5 diesel increased in price by 14 tetris and became 4.34 GEL; in Wissol, Diesel Energy increased in price by 8 tetris and became 4.45 GEL; in the Gulf network, Euro regular increased in price by 6 tetris and became 3.75 GEL; Gulf's G-Force premium has increased in price by 6 tetris and is GEL 3.93.

In addition, according to the data published by Geostat and no conspiracy numbers, as they like to call it in "Dream", in total over the past 1 year the price of diesel has increased by 39%, and the price of gasoline by 23%.

With such numbers, we are approaching the month of September, the harvest month, when every fourth citizen in Georgia employed in agriculture must now harvest the crop and, in fact, must live on this income for the whole year. These are catastrophic numbers and a catastrophic situation and complete irresponsibility on the part of the Prime Minister of Georgia, who promised us on December 23, 2025 that the price of absolutely everything in Georgia would become cheaper. After that, utility bills doubled, fuel prices skyrocketed, and the price of absolutely all food products rose every month.

Let us remind you that this is the government that came to power in 2012 with a promise to halve fuel prices, and in 2017, after 5 years, doubled the excise tax on fuel.

Today, we hear that there is a difficult and critical situation due to the conflict in Iran and the disruption of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, the issue of fuel supply is difficult in many countries, and Georgia must respond to this crisis adequately, just like many other countries around the world. The way to solve this crisis is to return the excise tax on fuel to the level before 2017, which will directly make fuel cheaper. This is what many countries have done, be it Italy, Portugal, Poland, Vietnam, Australia, etc. Halfing the excise tax will directly reduce the price of fuel, and will also help every fourth Georgian working in agriculture, who will not be forced to harvest crops against the backdrop of these catastrophic numbers, and this will also be an excuse for the price of absolutely all products and services to decrease, because the price of fuel affects all services and products that we consume," said Tazo Datunashvili.
