The Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated administrative proceedings against civil activist Tornike Razmadze. The case concerns a comment written by Razmadze on social media.

As Tornike Razmadze notes in a video address, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is accusing him of insulting “Russian propagandists.”

“You won’t believe why they opened a case and are sending me to court, so that they either imprison me or impose a huge fine on me. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is accusing me of insulting the Russian propagandists Margarita Simonyan and Vladimir Solovyov and of swearing at them.

The matter concerns a video I posted several weeks ago: Margarita Simonyan is standing surrounded by other Russian propagandists and is mocking us Georgians, first of all King Erekle II, and saying something like this: just as Erekle II came and, with the ‘Treaty of Georgievsk,’ on his knees begged the Russians to take him under their protection, other Georgians, the new ‘Iraklis,’ will also come and, on their knees, will fawn and beg us to take them under our protection. My response to this was: ‘And one of your mothers is “nakaleniakh” too.’

This is also an insult to the current representatives of ‘Georgian Dream.’ Is Grandpa Erekle no longer to be defended now?! Was this not an insult to him?! Where have you heard a greater insult than when Russian propagandists call him a king crawling on his knees and mock him. Apparently, the way I wrote the comment must be examined in court - whether they will arrest me or fine me. That is not the problem; the problem is the message that ‘Georgian Dream’ is sending us - that, it turns out, one must not say insulting things about Russian propagandists,” - Razmadze noted.
