What is going on?” Aluda Ghudushauri, a Georgian Dream MP, said when asked, “Why did the Georgian Dream party support the legislative initiative of the For Georgia party?”

According to him, this is an ordinary technical error that has happened many times and will happen many more times in the future.

At the Legal Affairs Committee, where this issue was presented, they brought forward such an absurd and legally nonsensical matter that they themselves could not even clearly formulate what they were asking for. We are ready to discuss any issue that serves the interests of our country and people, but this was so absurd and legally flawed that the members of Gakharia’s party could not even agree among themselves at the committee. There was about an hour of heated debate, and I was one of those who took a particularly strong position.

Asked whether he had pressed the green button, thereby voting in support of the bill, Ghudushauri replied: “I will press a finger against the enemies of the people of this country, and I will do something else as well.”

As for the question about Tea Tsulukiani, who also supported the bill submitted by Gakharia’s party, Ghudushauri said that Tsulukiani is a highly accomplished and qualified lawyer who would under no circumstances support such a legal absurdity.

For the record, 16 MPs from Georgian Dream and People’s Power voted in favor of the legislative initiative submitted by the For Georgia faction, which called for restoring the rules concerning assemblies and demonstrations that had been in force before 2024.

Among the 28 MPs who supported the legislative package were the following members of Georgian Dream and People’s Power: Irakli Kirtskhalia, Tornike Bereкаshvili, Isko Daseni, Zaal Dugladze, Vakhtang Turnava, Samvel Manukian, Guram Macharashvili, Anton Obolashvili, Nikoloz Samkharadze, Eka Sepashvili, Aluda Ghudushauri, Goderdzi Chankseliani, Vasil Chigogidze, Tea Tsulukiani, Givi Chichinadze, and Giorgi Chkonia.
