Lasha Farulava: Kakha Kaladze is not only corrupt, he has effectively become a bioterrorist - we demand an immediate investigation into Kaladze and the state institutions responsible for food quality in kindergartens

“We are immediately demanding an investigation into Kakha Kaladze and the state institutions responsible for food quality in kindergartens and children’s safety,” Lasha Farulava, one of the leaders of the United National Movement, said at a briefing.

Lasha Farulava holds the authorities responsible for the intoxication of children in kindergartens and says that “Kakha Kaladze is not only corrupt and a thief; his irresponsibility now poses a threat to the health of our children.”

“Medical clinics in Tbilisi are filling up with children who have been poisoned at kindergartens. The Georgian Dream was first stealing children’s portions, and now it is feeding them substandard food. Kakha Kaladze is not only corrupt and a thief; his irresponsibility is now endangering the health of our children and he has effectively become a bioterrorist.

We are immediately demanding an investigation into Kakha Kaladze and the state institutions responsible for food quality in kindergartens and children’s safety. Guram Okropiridze, head of the Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency, must be held accountable, as must all responsible individuals whose irresponsibility has endangered people’s lives and health.

GEL 280 million is spent annually on Tbilisi’s system of 190 public kindergartens. Of this amount, GEL 215.8 million is spent directly on food. It is also noteworthy that in recent years, instead of the relevant Tbilisi City Hall agency, the procurement of food products has been carried out by the State Procurement Agency, now the central purchasing body.

Both Tbilisi City Hall and the relevant state agencies are responsible for what happened. Unfortunately, this is what corruption, irresponsibility and incompetence look like — they can even poison people,” Farulava said.
