Marta Kos: Georgia is a candidate country only on paper, and I regret that - I would like it to be at the same level as Moldova and Ukraine

“As you know, Georgia is a candidate country only on paper. I regret that. I would like Georgia, with the strong support of the Georgian people, to be at the same level today as Moldova and Ukraine,” European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos said at a press conference.

“What is happening in Georgia now will be reflected in the enlargement report. How we proceed with the country will largely depend on how the member states assess its future, but much of what is happening in the country [Georgia] now will be presented in the enlargement reports at the end of October. You can imagine in which direction this will go,” Kos said in response to a question from a Tabula journalist.
