“What we are witnessing is exactly what happens in Kafka’s The Trial — we do not know who is being accused of what,” Berdia Sichinava, one of the leaders of the For Georgia party, said after a hearing at the Constitutional Court.
The court’s Plenum is reviewing a lawsuit filed by Georgian Dream seeking to ban opposition parties.
According to Sichinava, the defendants are not even being given a proper opportunity to prepare their defence because they have insufficient time to do so.
“A defence strategy requires, at the very least, adequate preparation to understand what specific allegations are being made against you and to present relevant evidence. We do not even have that opportunity. That is the situation,” Sichinava said.
