FM Zalkaliani discusses recent situation in occupied territories at meeting with Danish MPs

The Georgian Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani, has held a meeting with representatives of the Danish Parliament’s Foreign, Defence and European Affairs Committees, - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has said.

As MFA said, the Danish MPs gave high appraisal to co-operation with Georgia and reaffirmed Denmark’s support for the country.

The Georgian Foreign Minister discussed the security and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. Highlighting the importance of the international community’s consolidated support in this regard. The Minister focused on the Georgian Parliament’s Resolution envisaging imposing sanctions on the persons included in the Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list. The need to impose sanctions on the persons included in the Tatunashvili-Otkhozoria list was also reflected in the European Parliament’s Resolution adopted 10 years after the Russia-Georgia war, as well as in the U.S. Congress Act, the Irish Senate’s Resolution and the Lithuanian Government’s Decision.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the ongoing reforms and democratic development process in Georgia, as a result of which Georgia is recognized as the leader among the Eastern Partnership countries. High appraisal was given to the implementation process of the Association Agreement to which attests the European Parliament’s Resolution of 14 November 2018. Pledging support for Georgia in various international formats, the members of the Danish Parliament reaffirmed their readiness to further develop inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries.
